180SX2X Project - P!PES for ya ass.

Thanks to P!PES for ya ass! The rear of the 180SX Project cars are that little more special.

Here you can see how detail work pays off. A mirrored number plate showing off these babies perfectly.

Because I didn't want to upset the balance of the chassis / body itself. I mounted this one centrally . The body will be a couple of mm higher at running time.

I'm wery happy with the result.

The pictures were taken in excitement, But as you expect, I'll be shooting these cars properly in the "studio" before debut.

The MST rims I picked up yesterday were already on my chassis, so this test fit was a surprise. the black looks menacing.

Headlights Up or down, these two 180SX are going to be perfect.

The sponsor of this twin build has decided to keep his Full overdose DRB at 4.6:1 Counter-steer ratio. It's dialed in and performing well. So the Speedline number set was inverted to 4.6.

The diminishing returns above this ratio do not really warrant the chassis hacking that's required to fit a larger front pulley.

So now the LEDs are installed and the exhausts are on. there's only the dash and cage to be fitted to both machines before we can let loose on the track... after sitting them as a center piece on the dinner table for a week or so.

GCRC - Chassis and Driver.

What great afternoon. As you can see. A little upgrade to the FD.

These DEEEEEEEEP Dish MST Rims somehow found their way onto my DRB.

My RX7 gets absolutlely hammered 100% of the time. If you aren't scrubbing up against other cars, pushing the edges and scraping bumpers, smashing and being smashed into, you aren't trying hard enough.

This afternoon, I was sandwiched between a couple of older skylines,

and some other modern machinery in 4 way fun.

BG falcon ute is 100% Aussie Style.

 Carve it up.

Jump in, battle it up and have fun.

Even though some of us may spend a lot of time on a shell that ends up costing about $300 or more.
This gold skyline has a sound card worth another 200 but it doesn't matter.

They are built to be driven and driven hard.

Today I really enjoyed my drifting. Thanks boys.

180 preparation SX

A little closer. Sometimes the small details you don't even notice.

A pair of Yokomo DRBs tuned with Overdose and Sanwa components should create a similar feel.

Or White.

RE-DPi-R Typhoon Spec R

The Drift Package Imadoki is very nice conversion. The narrow chassis would actually work well as a touring car chassis.

I finally de-anodised the remaining components to complete the  Typhoon Spec.

Thus leaving the shine on the whole chassis. Matching a new Acuvance Tachyon Airia and 21.5T motor.

The newer Sanwa receiver I installed was not compatible with the gyro I recently installed... so that means more gyroless tuning until I swap some components around.

Today I found a pretty good balance. As long as I don't push too hard. gyroless lapping on a small track is no problem.

So... I've re-started the long process of rear wheel drive setup testing mm by mm and countless configurations for balance. Narrow, full width, soft, hard who knows what I will settle on.

But the chassis looks awesome and will make a great base as tuning completes. The previous owner of these chassis plates decorated them nicely so I'll keep it that way.

P!PES for your ass!

Recently I hooked up with P!PES for ya ass!

What you see here are a new range of RC exhaust pipes that will finish off any body with added flair.

The new range are ceramic coated in matt black. The effect is awesome. These also add a bit of weight to the rear of any body. Keeping the ass hanging out as it should. Mounting is pretty easy with the metal support able to be bent or drilled in any position.

This straight pipe with angled tip adds a sharp image. 45 degree cut is very cool and the pipes logo tops it all off.

Rotary lovers like myself need a curved down pipe. A feature often used to dampen the BRAP BRAP of a rotary.

GCRC DRIFT "THE COMP" Part #2 - BATTLES A.

With lots of track time to "practice battle"... it was soon time to get on it!

Now... you may remember I am not a huge fan of drift competition, but it does have a place in drift.

What I dislike is... as you progress, your opponents sit out or you may sit out from a small mistake. I always feel that everyone should battle everyone but of course there can only be one winner.

So you just drive and see how far you can go.

The battles were good to watch. sometimes a small mistake was the only decider.

Judging a battle is a tough dicipline. You need to know what the judges are looking for and our judge with drift experience knew what to look for.

Emulating the lead line was the key.

Sometimes, the cars were aside, sometimes proximity was opened up.

A little pressure is good for everyone!

sometimes the proximity wasn't there, so that means the line is important.

And the pressure to catch up brings mistakes also.

Hard to pick a winner though from wide proximity though.

Competition is a test for your heartbeat and your reflexes.

You can't just cruise around.

You have to hook in!

Hammer down!

and try to pull away.

If you are called for one more time. You simply do it all again.

A gap might open.

and finish with a rear entry!

close battles on paper or close battles from practice can't determine the outcome.

all it took here was a small tap on the wall to cause a small spin and then you have to rely on the other persons big error.

Shooting through the trees is fun!.

But it all starts from the line. The 35 taking the victory over the 34.

This one we knew would be tight. It proved to be true.

almost 30 years difference in driver age and very little gap on track.

lead or trail. This is how we usually run lap after lap.

it looked like the guys were having fun rather than that super competitive battle.

But the attacks were definitely ON!

The next one was ON too.

GCRC Staff and GCRC Owner on track... Who should win? the boss or employee?

Well this is what happens when the cars are tuned by the same person. similar CS, handling, angle, etc etc

Both trying hard to beat each other.

Take it on.

 hook it in.

Switch it back.

dive in

and follow through for the win in to the semi final.

On the other side of the draw I was proceeding, but without images to go with the story... that's pretty boring. There will be another post with those images from a friends camera.

So... semis.

A little narrow from lots of pressure, may have been all that decided the battle.

but the bigger fatter, less shiney S13 took the win into the final.

But there's an extra battle for 3rd.

and in this case the fight was close again. My black RX7 had managed to just squeeze past the blue R35 into the final, so these two had to fight for the 3rd place podium..

A small gap decided the position.

Stay tuned for the final in photos and video.
