GCRC Dori School - Part#2 GoGo!

Contributions to RE-Xtreme and GCRC from other guys behind the camera really add to our enjoyment.

Thanks to the guys for picking up the camera.

I think the contribution though extends to everyone as the content also provided tonight also makes the photographers look great too. You can't capture stuff like this without the drivers also trying their best.

Two short lessons over the last weeks in the drift school has really started to see massive improvement. It has also raised the bar for the top level

I know it's helped my own lead runs as well. Setting the pace and line is another skill.

Those converting from CS to RWD are also getting up to speed quickly.

It takes a bit of time to build a new skill set. Yes there are 3 cars in this picture.

DriftLine chassis drivers are always able to be dynamic and can run any line. This solid setup comes from trial and error but these days theres a few settings that just need to be so.

Once you have them... you can do this with more ease. Then you can concentrate on the line, spacing and looking cool!

Super happy with how the new R32 looks on track. I've already had 2 of these, so I know they handle well.

I knew I wanted some more visibility on track and this one increases that.

Love the kazama FXR wheels also.

While it may be slightly removed from the A~Bo~Moon Blue. I love the impact it has.  My DRB-REW getting some big angle with some cool details. Driver adding to the effect.

Not only easy for me, but easy for others to judge distances.

More than a few laps of side by side.

Just have to get these guys some figures for their ghosts driving cars look a bit strange at times..

3 RWD and 2 CS here.  and more around the track.

Check the backgrounds too. All are trying to stick to the Line I set for the night.

The results are damn good.

Picking up more as we go.

One of the other groups circulating at that time.

Later in the night it was battle time.

Squeezing the spaces closer and really only accommodating two up battles.

Still some awesome images here.

Love this shot.  It's how I like to run my bodies. I run a bunch of velcro. The body sits on the rims and actually moves with the suspension. so the car ALWAYS looks low.

Watch out for those up the inside... sometimes it's me.... hehe.

Slide on!

Southern visitor hooking in.

Chasing us down.

It's always interesting battling with another body that I have painted in the past... I have to remind myself   to watch the right machine.

Refreshed 86 looking awesome.

Grey Style.

Thanks to all for the awesome session at GCRC.

DRB-REW Setup Options

RE-Xtreme RC .RSG. DRB-REW Battle Set.

Developing the DRB-REW with so much flexibility in the chassis means you you could try some thing new every week in the year and still have numerous options.

Ive tried a lot of setups on these and while some are still works in progress, others are performing well.

Samurai Red/CSG.  Ninja Black/CSG WIP, Tsunami Blue/SSG , Tyhpoon Silver/CSG

Typhoon Silver prototype machine is still using modified CS parts that are currently being modifed for more effective RWD use. but 90% there. Gear driven motor to rear end with ball diff.

Front mount inverted servo has adjustable Wrap Up Next servo horn and a tapped and died wiper on the left side.

compact and effective. gear drive rear end with ball diff and  I've also applied a trailing link rear end to this beast for more testing. Blue cars share normal longer stroke DRB size shocks and shorter Drift Package front shocks

The most robust setting so far is this machine. Rear trailing link rear end is proving very nice with chassis roll and Wrap up next type C front end.   Venom Belt drive for smoothness. Effective weight balance with the long battery is good but also equally effective is the short lipo moved forward in the larger battery tray.

My new Samurai spec machine is Venom belt drive with under driven spool. another variation. front end is using modified Yokomo V2 upper mount and Overdose A-Arm. A little more castor on this one. Just need to swap the ESC and Receiver before run time.

DRB-REW Samurai Spec Build

Time to start my final DRB-REW build will Samurai Armour.

Every DRB-REW needs a donor. Long discontinued, the conversion set prolongs the life of the DRB and brings it into the RWD stage at the highest level.   This Second-hand donor was one of the original Black Bridge /  Red Alloy versions.

The CSG Carbon Surface Graphite twill chassis plate offers that little extra over the normal carbon style. Thick twill for impact adds a marginal thickness over the SSG Silver Surface Graphite.

Depending on your Donor Chassis, You will need some extras. My additional parts chosen for this build are WUN VX front knuckles. I have recently sourced a Keyence Motor and a few other parts in preparation.

My purchased donor was already set for RWD, with some Overdose and Yokomo V2 parts.

Venom  Belt Drive allows normal motor direction.

The chassis spacers on the REW can be chosen as 2.5 or 5.0mm in various config. User choice is the Key to the Rear Evolution Weightshift depending on the grip level and smoothness of surface.

Basic assembly started. If you've been playing with your DRB in CS mode, construction is very similar to Yokomo.

Included longer screws replace the short screws of the normal DRB. the extra length required for chassis spacers. Carbon spacers for battery mount.

Pretty soon, it starts to look like a Reversed High Traction DRB. I'm testing V2 and overdose uppers and V1 / WUN on this machine.

I didn't have a spare red diff. So I went with a temporary blue one for now. Using CS gears in the rear creates a rear wheel speed that's too fast for my course.

Almost ready for blast off. Central balance point for the battery. Easiest way to change pulleys with a non-overdose pulley mount is by removing the right side pulley mount. Removing all existing belt tensioner pulleys creates a clean chassis.

Venom 11-41 belt drive and 13-40 rear belt on this machine for 13.5T motor. Wide rear end for extra track and long stroke

Just need to tidy up the front end ackerman and links before electronics.

Twill Carbon camoflauge.

The Samurai will soon enter battle.
