GCRC 2 Late - Part 1

GCRC Has been going off. Simply awesome sessions! Never 2 late to join the party.

D-Like RE-R + R32 Low Slide Style

Hook it in and hang on tight!

Drift Line DL-001 and DL-002 Locked in a private battle.

Recent trip to the Queensland Drift Matsuri providing some inspiration.

RWD Style!

Winding off lock onto the straight.

Takumi or Bunta... You never can tell.

Gloss White or Rough World Matt Black.

Recently the battles are making way for trains as we gather the troops.

And the results are getting better and better.

Sure there are some mistakes, but we are leaving enough room for small error.

All drivers still standing on it hard in battle mode.

But we are practicing dialing it back that 5 % for constant training.

My shots done... time for the photographer tag team...

Yokomo Rubbin's Racin'

Yokomo R-03DT + Gram Lights 57 Gainer.

The look when Yokomo body matches Yokomo Rim and Tyre is very different to other brands. Typically the higher sidewall changes the rolling diameter and a few other things.    These wheels are stock with the Yokomo SD-Sport MR4TC with 86 body as well as other entry level grip machines like the RF concept.

There used to be a SS Super Sport Stock Touring car racing class in Japan running these tyres and a 50:50 Drift Package.

Install 4 of these on your Rear Wheel Drive Drift machine and you no longer have a drifter, you have pure RWD race car.

Counter-steer cars cannot run with these tyres as the wheel speed imbalance is too much, but 50:50 and RWD have no problem turning the drift machine into a race machine.

The gyro gain was up a bit high, but the effect was awesome.

WOW, the DRB Weight Shift REW was amazing. Massive weight shift making it a pretty interesting 2wd touring car. It's been a long time since I'd done any RC racing so my reflexes are way off for accuracy, but I could definitely get into this as a once a month stress out.

A lot of fun.

Now, using these on the front of a RWD drift car was fine. the more grip we can force through the front seems to allow the rear to push against them harder and simply accellerate the car through corners. A fun test.

Boss S14 Checkpoint

The HPI Nissan Rocket Bunny Boss S14 can't escape it's influences.

The BRE livery is white with red and blue. GCRC colours are red, white and black

A little accentuation to the hood lump that would obviously hide a V8 Swap.

So you end up with a Dodge R/T Camaro Silvia.

Overall appearance is good. Very old school racey.  Can you make something new, something old?

So we are getting closer. Diffuser is done , just need to do the lights and details before fitment.

R-33 Low Style Project

 Busy building weekend.

New Pandora R33 GTS-T BN Sports Bodyshell is a big unit. Just a smooth machine for some cruising.

Just needed a little toughen up to lead the drift trains.

Still a long way to go, but the basics are done. RC-ART L-size Hood scoop in place.

once he details are on this will have some real presence

Already looking good. The only criticism on this one. the wheel wells are noticeably small. Lucky these days we are using narrow scrub knuckles.

Pain in the Boss.

These HPI Boss S14s are cool, but OMG they are a pain to build.

Concept was pretty straight forward. Something along these lines. Mimicking the BRE style.

They are pretty unique. the wheel exposure will be interesting.

Ready for a bath.

Then some final fitment.

About an hour to get it right. Thick lexan requiring patience

Custom Buckets will be cool too!

A large masking effort.

And some pretty good results. I decided to replicate the theme on the bonnet

Overdose 326Power Yaba King Mitsuru Mesh Wheels Suit, but these are not for this body.

Next... White and details...

GCRC Night and Day

Day or night, the moon is out.

Only 4... Soon the tally of R32 will be up to 11! Join the train.

The colour spectrum is getting wider.

Last night, just a few static pics.

Lights on at night or Full sunlight. GCRC Atmosphere is awesome.

Bright Night.

Bright Daylight. EVO X with Advan RS. Very JDM.

Get in the RC Mood..

RE-Xtreme RC Drift Bible - DRB DIB - Lower Wheel Speed

There's a lot going on here... Lets look at one thing. Lower Wheel Speed.

The DRB-REW Rear Wheel Drive Evolution Weight Shift machine is capable of handling a large rear spool.  Why?  To lower the rear wheel speed.

On low grip surfaces, the rear RPM easily can exceed grip. You have a few options.

Use a torquey motor like a 21.5T.
Reduce your forward Speed
Reduce your EPA (crude method)
Change your spur and pinion.
OR
Change your rear drive.

Of all the things I thought about for the REW, a large rear spool was an option I wanted to implement. So the rear shock tower was designed to accommodate this.

The key to this on a Yokomo belt drive system is 2 fold

The Yokomo drive kit for 1.3 Countersteer.

this is the DIB link.   http://www.teamyokomo.com/partslist/ib/parts_ib_fcd13.html

The kit includes a 27T pulley (which is fine for CS) but we are looking at RWD here.

We will replace this with anywhere Alloy Pulleys from Sakura from 41T to 45T

The pulleys seat well in side but the screws are very slightly offset.

A very slight file to the inner section of 3 is enough.

Then it all bolts together. You should be able to run a lot more power through the drivetrain.

Belt size will need to be adjusted depending on the drive pulley and rear pulley options.

This is just one method so b careful of load on your motor and drawing too much power from your esc.
Always monitor temps for tuning.

COUNTER-STEER

For countersteer you can use the opposite on the front. Mounting to a One-Way requires six small screws and bolts. Simply clamp the oneway to the pulley.

Clearance in the front of a DIB and DRB will require some grinding.  when you go more than 43T.

to the shock tower, Steering rack and steering mount.

Have fun.
