Yokomo MR2-DC Drift Package Spec R

There are many names I could call this chassis. Originally the MR4-TC was a Mid-Rear Engine 4 Wheel Drive Touring Chassis,

So I guess.

MR2-DC is more appropriate. Mid Rear Engine 2 Wheel Drive Drift Chassis.

What do you think?

This is your typical CS/FCD/Ketsukaki Drift drive train.

Front one way gear set and a rear overdrive gear set. (all now spares) 

So my chosen rear wheel drive train includes a strong rear gear set and I shorted a spare rear shaft (left) as the extra length for the centre drive shaft is un-needed. (normal  is on the right)

All shimmed and tucked away in the rear. I also added a super small pinion and larger spur for more control on the throttle.

Diffuser is on at the moment.

 The Kazama knuckles interfered with my high angle steering ...

So I carved a bit of room with the dremel. I also had to remove some metal from my motor mount for the larger spur.

This is about 1/2 angle.


The leading wheel can get to 85 degrees. Trailing wheel is a slightly less. De-anodising is complete. Just need to get a new ESC so I can plug my other Drift package back together.

I hope it should all hang together for some Rear Wheel Drive action in the MR2-DC or as I like to call it.

Exterior Complete.

The adjustable rear canards are fixed in place.  

Side Skirts and all body components are LOW!

Still undecided on the TE37/Prodrive Debate.

It's ready for light install, but I'm waiting on components.

HPI Intercooler in place, Some Brake ducts may replace these crappy light stickers. They're the weak link in the frontal area.

Overall... 9/10 the dash adds to the realism, but I haven't added door skins in this one yet, but I may need them to hide the LED wiring.

Groovy Baby!

I started with a basic rear shelf. and used some old parts to make up a kind of strut bar.

 This matches a basic cage from PLA tube

 I guess the overall feel is coming together.

You can't really see it through the rear, but I know its there. haha.

The Sunglasses on my driver add a level of cool!

My rear spool upgrade should arrive this week, so I'll be testing the rear wheel drive package again. with it's full body complement.

RE-Xtreme FD3s Spirit "R" - Update 8 - Interior

Spirit R Details... Dash, rear gate and Brochure.

Today I had some leftover thick polycarbonate, so I got out the heat gun and attempted to create...

I managed to get a rough shape similar to the FD dash and a rear gate

Although these wont be too visible, It's nice to know they are there.

While I was looking for pictures I came across an old downloaded Spirit R brochure PDF.

A resize and print on sticker paper has a 1:10 scale Mazda Spirit R Japanese Sales Brochure.

Very cool!

RE-Xtreme FD3s Spirit "R" - Update 7 - Aero

Now it's looking correct.

The new parts are, canards, rear diffuser extensions, wing end plates.  Diffuser is fitted to the chassis.

The overall appearance is getting there.

I had to bend the lower rocker panel to get a bit of curve before I added the side skirts.

It creates a deeper image to the side. The Fujita Engineering Feed side steps are just as I imagined.

Feel free to add some stickers to my rear window If i meet you.

Next Job, Interior and lights.

RE-Xtreme FD3s Spirit "R" - Update 6 - Graphics

 RE-Xtreme Spirit "R" --- "R" for Revision.

I decided to go for a more gun metal / red finish.

It's a 4 hour task to cut all the graphics and stick them.

Ahhhhhh... Finished.

Yes... Much better. I'm happy I went through the process.

I added a subtle grey fade as part of  the design and ed-emphasized the stickers a little to work on a contrast model rather than a colour impact.

The Fenders have become a lot more subtle and it returns to a Spirit "R". I added some Spirit R emblems

 replacing the Mazda Emblem. I'm liking this a LOT more now. There's a lot to take in as you work around the car,I'm liking the some of the small decals I have on the rear.

I am totally undecided about these.

I'm quite happy with the design overall, but I think I just like the plain Silver more.

Still great but it's just a taste thing.

RE-Xtreme FD3s Spirit "R" - Update 5 - Wheels and Smalls

Finally getting there. Mounted, and details are coming together. HPI Intercooler dominates the frontal area

When going JDM, there are 4 or 5 main wheel manufacturers, but  RAYS and Advan are always candidates.

These TE37SL are complimentary to the chosen colours.

These Prodrive are very similar to the Advan AVS T5 and I guess they offer that small difference in colour

I mounted the muffler on the diffuser, but I'm not sure whether this will be running like this.  Depends on Setup

Some small details are added including some RE-Xtreme logos.
