GCRC Friday Battles and Tests

By the end of the evening tuning was set. Double Trouble was set to start.

I handed over the keys to my DRB-REW for a while.

I think it took about 2 laps before "the substitute driver"....

was right on the clips. So time for tandem.

White machine is DRB-REW and Blue Machine is DP-Drift Master. Both Weight Shifters.

Some super tight battles for the Yokomo Customs as I snapped these shots.

These days large angle is not an issue for our RWD setups... But use it wisely.

RWD setups are pretty flexible these days, the available angle is totally dependant on how much speed you have and how you drive the car. Totally possible to drive dead straight then initiate to 90 degrees, or simply circle the track at high speed on next to no angle.

As you build speed on to a straight you wind off the lock, replicating a real car as you straighten.

Or wind off the angle to close up on the door. You might lose some D1 points for that though

4 hours of fun and tyre testing. Sometimes it's interesting to try new things and compare a good chassis with one that wasn't perfect.

Today's brainwave... 1mm wider track up front making a substantial difference to one of my chassis. everything dependant on everything else. Change one thing at a time. Test and replace. Build gradually.

GCRC DP-DM FRI-DEBUT

Finally got the Shaft Drive Drift Package Drift Master on track.

CS 3.4 from the shaft drive machine is about the maximum possible without major component change.

I think you will agree that this amount of CONSTANT lock through the corner is only possible with a large amount of CS.

The chassis can hold this kind of angle all day.

If you try this using a stock Drift package the front wheels will be straight 90% of the time. Bine are at 45 degrees when ever I have the car hanging out.

High Speed looks awesome.

low speed equally so.

Big thanks to my photographer.

These images of the 2000GT look amazing, but it's the chassis that makes these images possible. Being able to place the car where it needs to be is the key.

I'm going to enjoy this shaft drive machine.

DP-DM Spec 3.4

Yokomo Drift Package Drift Master... Ready for action.

These are some preliminary shots. I have made a few changes since but it's now ready.

Final Spec is listed.

Yokomo Drift Package - Drift Master version
Yokomo Shock Upgrades with Kazama tops
Yokomo Rear FCD2.0 gear set with Alloy Housing.
Yokomo Front One Way with Spice Reduction Gear Set,
Yokomo Front DPM Knuckles with (7,10,12) castor lower plates. (12 fitted)
Year Racing Rear knuckles.
Team Suzuki Lower arms.
Yokomo Alloy Drive Shaft cups

Active Hobby Lightweight Centre shaft
Active Copy Slide Rack Steering
Overdose Battery Stay
etc etc

I decided to debut the Drift Master using the 2000GT.

the main reason being, this chassis has a very neutral aerodynamic shape. the slippery form kind of drifts similarly to a naked chassis.

It's ready for debut... so check the next post.

RE-DP-DM Almost RTS "Ready to Slide"

The Drift Master is almost ready, check a few more details.

The rear has been complete for some time.

2.0FCD at the rear. Team Suzuki Arms. Kazama topped shocks and SS universals are gonna make this zing zing.

Last week, my slide rack arrived for the front. Because of the narrow mounting point for steering on the DP-DP, I devised a little plan. I lowered the steering as much as I could and drilled some new holes for the mounting position.

This Drift Package Drift Master is going to stay as 3.4CS. the front spice gear set providing the max setting for shaft drive. I don't need any more steering than this. I'm already maxed out on the CVDs and there is still more flexibility in the rack.

So I just need the servo saver installed for steering operation.

And then receiver and Keyence Tachyon ESC /  taped in for some testing to start with the New Luxon KG 10.5. gogo!
