Champagne Sensations.

It was a nice effect this afternoon, these two champagne colored  machines casting a nice image.

This Skyline Ken&Mary Version has a GT-R Sound card installed. Screaming it up.

The chassis is a CS 2.6x plastic team magic that performs very well. The body is probably worth more than the chassis.

This machine is an R3R with D-Like  FD3s RX7. Here I have some lighting effects on it, but without it's an amazing fade from light to dark.

While the D-Like RX7 Shape is a bit off scale with the short nose, but still cuts a great shape.

There were some solid battles towards the end of the day. Fun for all.

Mid Week Rip.

I knew I should have taken the Red Silvia. Wide and low was the theme.

4.0x almost Rear Wheel Drive. I only just noticed the inverted canards...

Rocket Bunny rear is cool!

I spent the limited time we had tonight, to tune the body a little. I've got 60grams under the trunk lid. Much Much better.

This contact made a nice sound! So I didn't fx it.

Dust Dust everywhere. Maintenance coming.

We still don't have a real home for Gold Coast drifting.  the surface at Rippit will become Grip/Kid friendly, so the hard core tandem drifters won't be playing much.

Hmmm Where to go?

Polishing at Rippit

Well Today was awesome. The whole Rippit track to myself for the entire afternoon!

I've got the EVO III to a state where I thought it should debut. It has lights, but they are not connected yet.

So here is the track.. (I moved a few things around to make it longer and more challenging on my line.)
the outside one.

The guys are stapped in ready to go.

Today I used some old Kazama premium carpet tyres that worked very well. (by myself)
So no speed to compare to.

The main chassis is my DRB. 1.8cs and it's working well.

I like the lighting at Rippit. Pretty cool. (now only if we could get a diorama track in here.)

Anyway. Today's test was interesting. the FD3s body is slippery. The difference in dynamics between this and the 4 door lancer is crazy.

I needed 4 extra turns on the rear shocks to get anywhere near the setting of the Rx7.

Although it looks nice. I'm not sure about the dynamics of this one. I think It may be a shell for the Drift Package. it might be interesting to pull off the roof vent. Because I know that its creating drag and it really stops the car like an air brake. I may have to at least close the vent.

Anyway. All good. It certainly looks the part.

Tommi Tribute - Update #5 Stickers and Finals.

Well. it's nearly nearly there. just needs a few small things.

The Top Line Drift Fighter N-Model in +9 are definitely the wheel I will use. The rally image is present with these. I love the mid 90's rally cars in tarmac spec, so I added the Monte Carlo 1995 Challenge logo.

Mini Tommi and Mini Russ are ready (I think mini Russ needs some rotary stickers on his helmet) I originally just drew the logos with a sharpie, but I thought some stickers would work better.

Anyway, those guys need to be added inside to match the driver pairing.

I'll need some LEDs also perhaps another car will donate some for now.

I've tried my entire wheel collection on this car, and I don't know what is best, so I chose a few different wheels.

These prodrives are not to bad. I need a little tow strap too.

New Project - Legend Tribute.

Scandinavian flick, Tommy Makinen and all that jazz. He is one of the Legends of 90's Rally. This will be a tribute.

My good mate, legend ... Allen.  Calls me. do you want anything from RC Champ?

What kind of a question is that!!! of course!

then he sends me some teaser shots.

You know what I mean.

I was recently looking at the Evo III as my next project so I got him to pick me up one along with some

DRS12

and some BRW03.

Should be funky!

280 ZX Shakotan Livery

I've been thinking for a while about a livery for the 280ZX. I almost gave up and went for a single colour, But. I think I have a solution.

I love the Japanese fighter image with the red Japanese sun. (Yes, the sun IS red in Japan) and I wanted a race style + the Shakotan image is unavoidable. So I sat down today and sketched something with a biro.

The only bit I'm unsure of is the head light area. Red or Black? Maybe I'll go black. Red maybe a bit much.

Shakotan FD3s Savanna RX-73

Ok, Here is the finished machine.

Yokomo Apexi Vertex D1 FD3s with ABC Hobby Works Over Fender Set + Cut vinyl sticker set & livery design by .RSG. + RE-Amemiya and other stickers.

I've added the carbon splitter and photo-realistic coolers. I thought about an external oil-cooler, but that's a bit ridiculous on an FD. Yokomo light buckets. Wheels are HPI Work Miester S1 +9 Offset with +6 TN Rear Axle Spacers.

Main theme features; RE-Xtreme, FET, TRUST, WORK and ADVAN sponsors.

Originally wanting white, the light grey was a second choice but works quite effectively.

Big distractions from the fenders. Triple 3" exhaust tip.

No shakotan machine would be complete without a train handle. つり革 (tsurikawa)

This is the view REAL people will see. Pretty Awesome.

1/10 scale people might see this view.

I'll raise the ride height about 2-3mm for running.

So there you have it, the Shakotan Boso Drift Time Attack JDM with 40 years of differing influence in an FD3s RX-7.

Cool!

RX-73 RE-Fresh

OK... Here it is... incomplete, but FANTASTIC!

What we have here is a bit of impossibility. The Yokomo FD3s is an incredibly NON-scale 1/10 machine. The wheelbase for the width of the car is crazy long so the designers had to get creative to make it look kind of ok.

The Vertex (Apexi D1) widebody does an ok job of getting the car somewhere near reasonable but it still needs help.

I just helped a little more. Mostly in the rear. You can see the extra length at the back. But in any case, Black helps hide this.

So, the fenders are meant for a 70's Savanna RX-3, I just gave them a new home.

Luckily they came attached to some R-X3 side pannels so I could pump out the rear a lot more. I also trimmed the rear valance from the bumper for diffuser access. (inspired by Cliff's Dori FD)

Colour scheme will include some chrome or old school silver boso influence. Just cut some shapes from vinyl.
