Many firsts at Rippit Gold Coast.
1st time at this track, +
1st time I've ever driven on polished concrete, +
1st time on these borrowed tyres that are 4mm narrower than my usual setup. +
I never adjusted the setting at all +
Just plonked the car on the track and drive it. = not perfect.

a bit of under/over is expected.

RE-DP Spec R - Test 4 Video...

OK.. the final test before I take it somewhere large to run with both 2wd and 4wd.

I tried 3 things today.

1. 4200 Short Lipo pack rear mounted. Immediately noticed better balance. Rear bias helped my Drift Package a lot. There is so much weight over the rear now.

2. RC 926 slightly harder springs all round. It only took about one turn on the rear to get a great balance.

3. Heavy alloy wheels. 
Well these were very very good with the naked chassis. I'd say near perfect. Good traction and good weight for slide. But unfortunately they were just 2mm too wide with my current hub setup on this body.
So I had to return to the Weds.

While not as good, have a look in the video. The setting is pretty much correct for running without a Gyro.

Driving is also much easier without the body. You can see the wheels and chassis move instantly and you can make exacting corrections to steering.
With the body on, steering correction is a little slower, and therefore a bit more difficult.

As they say in Japan. Gambarimasu. Try your best.

 I had a 13T pulley and a tensioner lying around, so what should I do?

Lets go 2.3 CS and see what happens. 40===12 --15===20

It's almost like Yokomo expected this, as the hole is in the right spot. I'm using a 3mm spacer under an RC Square Tensioner mount with RC square red hardware on the 12T free tensioner pulley. belt is still normal size.

I have an 18T for the rear which could potentially give 2.77 but (belt length becomes and issue. )for now, I think this is enough.



Pretty nice. holds opposite lock pretty well.  Still hard to set up a DIB, to vague in the damper response.

RE-DRB Super GT-D RX-7 @ Max One

Tonight turned out to be quite special.

I took the Super GT-D1 Spec RX7 down to Max one. I love this body it's small and really has that Tuned FD look. It needs LED though to make it easier to see in the darkness.

A few details first. I made some small team stickers like Japanese drift team stickers. I gave some to Kuni-san from Max-One too.

I added a couple to my chassis as well.

Anyway... I headed up to route 701 and did some testing. first with tyres and then springs. I couldn't get the feeling for the chassis early on. So I tired softer springs and it helped a lot.

The Yokomo SSG spec long springs really  make the Active rebound dampers work more effectively. It's now soft and subtle. I had to raise the rear of the body one notch as the springs allow a little more drop than before.

But it made a difference. I was able to get into it a bit more. But my driving still needs work. I get on the power too much. I need to be more calculated.

Tonight, it was a chance to run with the big dogs. Some big names in Japanese RC drift were in attendance. These guys are awesome, their focus and lack of mistakes is enviable.

Sometimes, it was good just to sit back and watch, other times, try and join in the fun. Everyone is enjoying themselves.

You have to admire a drift package weighing 1.5Kg and stick controls. Especially when it runs lap after lap without mistake from the driver. 2.0 CS conversion with front one way and lots of weight added. When off throttle the car stops quickly allowing more power to be used. 10.5T still gets this thing rocking.

Others run ota-zeon custom setups of various config, but you'd never know from the body. All running JZX100 chasers within mm of each other on track in an awesome display.

My videos weren't too good today, but you can be sure of coverage. There were cameras everywhere.

Here's a rather long video from the other day. I'm using my D-Like RE-R(X) with Celica Supra XX and Custom Yokomo RX-7.

The other cars are a Kazama GP-X under the Chaser and a Kei car set up for drift.

Here's a little shoot I did today when practicing.

This body still is the one I use most. and the Work XC8 Wheels with HPI are also the best for handling.

My setup is not super dollar. Just the basics.

But the image is bold. speedhunters.com sticker on my real car. 1/10 looks small.
