Yokomo Mark X 275 - Update #8 Wheels

Hi big boy!

The Mark X is taking final shape, so I wanted a little shoot in the sun to check the attitude.

Just need a mm or two to re-space the +9 wheels. currently running +3 spacer.

I'm liking these rims a lot.

Yokomo Mark X 275 - Update #7.5 Wheels

Choosing wheels is always tough. they can make an RC car look cool or ridiculous.

Today I finished repainting some old rims, and the results were surprising.

Now the clear coat is on the toplines, they POP! 2 red two blue remember.

The second set I am liking are these Wedsport SA-55M. in gold they look very similar to the Advan RS. only the Advans are not split spokes.

I was going to paint these black with gold like the sa-55 catalog, but I think I'll leave them as is. Loving the look. I'll stick them on the chassis this afternoon.

Luckily RC wheels are cheap. I have about 30 sets, all of which give a completely different look. the deep dish of these SWP Sparco style rims is cool, but a bit '90s looking for the MArk X

on paper, these should look good. chrome and red to match the accents on the body, but somehow these yokomo copy prodrives, don't work. Lost in the similarity in red.

They work better on the blue side, I may have to do 2 blue centres and 2 red.

Drivers and Stuff

Wonder when will Wild Willy win?  All my chassis are now running combinations of Willy, Wheelie and other Tamiya drivers.

New metallic pearl white and blue for the Tsunami blue alloy and SSG drift package, Angry eyes on this one.

Colour change Green/White pearl in the Typhoon Silver DRB.

These two helmets will interchange in the DIB275 and others depending on the body.

The current state of the DIB. Colour coded for the later JZX100 and red helmet.

This helmet is for the GRX 130. A similar design.

Without the polarising filter on the lens, it's hard to shoot, but you get the idea.

Today I spent a little time in the workshop, getting everything prepped and getting the offsets right on my wheel/setups. I got around to installing some alloy rear hubs on the Drift Package with new Team Suzuki CVDs and installed a FMIC.

I stopped using the wrap up next wheel nuts as they were destroying the rim centres. I went back to normal nylon items.

Tsunami Spec 86 & Drift Package. body not mounted exactly as yet due to FMIC.

Typhoon Spec 86 & DRB ... new overdose rims. Low enough?

Yokomo Mark X 275 - Update #7 LED / Wheels

The Mark X is nearing completion.

I always intended to run two colours on this machine. Red on one side and blue on the other.

Top Line N Model... there aren't many wheels better than these. (I still need clear coat on these.)

Blue side is complete. I can run blue or red on either side.

But I'm still waiting for 2 more of these...

Which will be my alternate selection... they look absolutely insane.I can run Yokomo R2 or R4 "rings" on them.

I've also installed a new 12 led set. All on!

I can't believe these are only $7.99
12x LED (6x5mm and 6x3mm), Flasher unit and Y lead with 12 plastic LED mounts, and a selection button.

the unit... You can link these in tandem also. I  had two connected in testing. 24 flashers. WOW!

Install wasn't as instructed. the constant vs flashing order were not as labelled. But Ok in the end.

Driving and park lights constant, main headlight flashing.

Main headlight constant, driving/park flashing.

And complete random flash or complete constant also ok.

 Two new guys also.

Slide Session.

A last minute decision to shakedown the GRX130 saw me meet up with the guys at rcTechnodrift.

Shakedown for the Mark X went as expected. Very smooth, lots of traction and lots of slide.

The guys were trying the slowest drift style searching for the tyres with least grip.

so, I eventually re-tuned the DIB-L to fit their style.

This sedan looks right. Compared to this Mark II, there was not comparison. I thought it was an AE86 for a while.

I'd like yokomo to make this JZX100 rather than the Kunnyz Chaser version in longwheelbase, But I guess I'll have to settle.

Nick's cool GT-R also sliding well.

and looking groovy.

Fernando's S13 and my S14 looked good together.

Lights ablaze.
We also did a bit of DIB vs DIB 275 comparison. No different from my point of view except driving line.

I ran the Drift package with Kazama Premium that had too much grip, so I went down to RC926 DT005 for more slide.

But I like to thrash the crap out of my drift package. It loves throttle.

My canards survived despite a few "racing incidents"

Red's Mark II on track and sliding well.

After dark, things became pretty quiet as we drifted into the night.

My DRB is setup for Japanese comp style, So it doesn't really match how the guys run at GC.

But it does look cool.

in it's chrome glory.

Sitting much lower with tuck. I trimmed 3mm since last time (when it was already low)
and now it surprisingly doesn't scrape so much.

Was a fun evening.
