Palace of Dust

I brought the DRB down to the Palace of Dust today.

Had some fun with the FD with it's Pink AVS Model 6. then hooked up the Pan Speed FC for some coolness. FC or FD. both are RE-Xtreme!

I have this $5 mini DVD for some RAW footage. Stay tuned.

The FC is feeling the effects of impact these days. the front is FRP reinforced, but still, it maybe time for something else.

But I'll drift it until the end.

GCRC - Debut

A new place to drift. Gold Coast RC . GCRC.

The layout. It's always difficult to come up with a realistic and flowing track in a small space. I happened to be in attendance a few nights ago as the owners were getting feedback on a layout.

The atmosphere is good.

While as yet incomplete, the overall effect will come into it's own. At the moment, both the wing on my MARK X and the FD just clear the walls.

A place to rest.

But more importantly...

A place to go sideways.

Slide time.

Go and check it out. GCRC is at Arundel http://www.gcrcraceway.com.au/

They have a huge buggy track as well! It's AWESOME!

Ideas

Suzuki-san's Sexy Nights FC inspired this little combo.

and this little set with pan Speed and the FC had me looking through Tsukuba pictures on my HDD.

It let to a little idea for a new mouse mat. 3mm foam, a printed label and a protective coating. While my current printer isn't really up to spec, its a bit of everyday inspiration.

もちろんパーツが日本から。ね\OoO/!

I got some finishing touches for the Drift Package, TN Racing rear Toe Block and some Overdose Rear Hubs
(note to dummies like me, Overdose Rear Hub bearing width is not compatible with Type C or Team Suzuki drive shafts)

RC Art Derive Tyres in Hard for asphalt and Soft for concrete. Although the soft maybe better where I run.

I got these Top Line Matt Black rims last time.

I thought I'd give them a whirl trying out my new Kazama tyre changer. Easy!

My DRB has been getting a bit of use. I'd better order some maintenance parts for it.

I'm still very happy to support the Japanese makers and shops directly.

Super Rajicon, RC Champ and RC-Art suppliers of Yokomo, Tamiya, Overdose, TN Racing, Top Line, Square, Mikuni, Pandora, Wrap Up Next, Accuvance, Sanwa, M's, Street Jam, Speed Way Pal, Speed Works, Team Bomber, Uras, Vertex and more.

The only things I have bought in Australia have been over priced Tamiya PS paint, low quality batteries and Shoe Goo.

Rippit Sunday S-Session

Silviarmageddon continues... issan-ichiyon-ichigo

All three cars are massive wide bodied beasts.

All with touches of Speed Way Pal, Uras, Admiration and more.

My session started like this.

With the matt black DRS-10 with  +9 not even close to filling the guards on the s14. I useually run +12 on this machine.

You may notice some dust.

This surface is terrible. Epoxy dust has us choking.

13 14 rears both run the uras drag wing. only the red beast has some custom work.

including the undesirable kind. The red beast has some 300 hours of track time. thats a lot of crashes. Still looks pretty good.

A fun afternoon.

Garage chaos

I really don't know whats happening in the garage at the moment.

Everything is over-run by non-rotary machines.

But the RX7s are still in the majority.

cars everywhere.

So I tried to organize a little.

Rotaries centre.

RE-Xtreme Fd3s Widebody. (Tamiya Pal)
RE-Xtreme Missile Fd3s (Pandora).
RE-Xtreme "Taka13Bt" FC3s (Yokomo Samurai)

.RSG. GRX130 MarkX (Yokomo 275)

Mid Week Rip.

I knew I should have taken the Red Silvia. Wide and low was the theme.

4.0x almost Rear Wheel Drive. I only just noticed the inverted canards...

Rocket Bunny rear is cool!

I spent the limited time we had tonight, to tune the body a little. I've got 60grams under the trunk lid. Much Much better.

This contact made a nice sound! So I didn't fx it.

Dust Dust everywhere. Maintenance coming.

We still don't have a real home for Gold Coast drifting.  the surface at Rippit will become Grip/Kid friendly, so the hard core tandem drifters won't be playing much.

Hmmm Where to go?

Polishing at Rippit

Well Today was awesome. The whole Rippit track to myself for the entire afternoon!

I've got the EVO III to a state where I thought it should debut. It has lights, but they are not connected yet.

So here is the track.. (I moved a few things around to make it longer and more challenging on my line.)
the outside one.

The guys are stapped in ready to go.

Today I used some old Kazama premium carpet tyres that worked very well. (by myself)
So no speed to compare to.

The main chassis is my DRB. 1.8cs and it's working well.

I like the lighting at Rippit. Pretty cool. (now only if we could get a diorama track in here.)

Anyway. Today's test was interesting. the FD3s body is slippery. The difference in dynamics between this and the 4 door lancer is crazy.

I needed 4 extra turns on the rear shocks to get anywhere near the setting of the Rx7.

Although it looks nice. I'm not sure about the dynamics of this one. I think It may be a shell for the Drift Package. it might be interesting to pull off the roof vent. Because I know that its creating drag and it really stops the car like an air brake. I may have to at least close the vent.

Anyway. All good. It certainly looks the part.
